I am going to my first track day at end of July and i have just got some new 17" wheels and tyres, and obviously i dont want to destroy a set of new tyres,
So my question is this, if i am to use part worns does it make a big difference if i have mixed make / wear state.
any advice would be great
thanks in advance

It will make a difference - different compounds/sidewall stiffness & flex/tread block "squirm" (that's SdB and my word of the week LOL ) - BUT - would probably be quite good fun...(but not on the same day as me please ).
A matching set will be more predictable however...

I think the answer would be "not if you can help it". However, you'll probably be ok if your two fronts are the same and two rears are the same.
I've been using Yoko's at the front and bridgestones at the back for a while (not out of choice, but due dealers ordering the wrong stuff and the lead time for 155/55 15 rubber...) - and after several track days I can report that it all works stunningly well. (on an ITR rather than a scoob, btw)
