Question

I've had the Alcon upgrade on my P1 and although they look brilliant and work fine (if you stand on them), I feel that the pedal is quite soft and goes down about an inch before anything real begins to happen.
Basically, although they work they don't have the initial bite of even the original 4 pots I had.
Is this the "progressive feel" that people have raved about, or do I need to get them bled again (already re bled once)?
Should I expect a firmer pedal?
Can anyone out there with them on their cars or Mike at prodrive let me know their experiences or views? ( on or off line)

Thanks John

Yes exactly the same here. Pedal only goes firm after about 1", and I have the support bracket fitted as well.

Have had mine bled about 3/4 times, as after a while, the feel of the pedal becomes softer.

Edited to say I have braided hoses too

John,

Are you running with braided hoses ? I found these made the pedal firmer.

Same for me, just had them fitted no difference in pedal feel, but car is stopping quicker, no braided hoses fitted yet. Can`t see different calipers making difference, simple solution outhere.

The 2 basic problems with brake feel on the Scoob are:

1. The double brake booster in the brake servo, this can be replaced with a single stage booster (available as a kit from the States).

2. The geometry of the brake pedal - this has been revised in the MY01.

I have posted on here before asking if anyone in the UK has addressed these issues but to no avail.

Thumbs up

The pedal does seem to firm up after a while.

Had mine on for a month now (with braided hoses too) and the difference in braking feel is really noticeable, now I'm getting used to it.

Had a great run across exmoor on monday where the old 4-pots used to fade - no such problem with the alcons and i could easily control the amount of braking as i liked.

Off to Dono tomorrow to give them their first real workout

Andrew O,

I'm sure the AP's are good but the thing that clinched it for me to get Alcons was that the AP's looked like 50 quids worth not £1600 + !
