Wheel offset for fitting 4 pots to Forester stb
#1
Just tried to marry up some P1 4 pots to a Forester stb. Everything but the offset is OK.
The standard 5 spoke wheels have 46 printed on back which I presume is the offset.
Do I have to space out wheel to 52mm to get the fit or will I face bearing or rubbing problems? I doubt that the wheel nut thread will cause any hassle as they seem to take ages to screw on.
Tyres have been changed to 225/55 x 16. Wheel width is 7 inch.
If a major problem then brakes will be appearing in private section - shame, as standard 2 pots are cr4p.

Iv just been checking to see if there is room for fitting a bigger brake kit into newly bought set of gen subaru 16" by 6+1/2",
they have the diameter, but the offset is 55mm, the same as my old STi 15" by 6" alloys.
Infact, athough they have the same offset, the new 16" alloy sits even closer to the OEM 2-pot caliper than the 15", due to them having less spoke curve. so I may be stuck with 2-pots a little while longer.
The AP website says that its 4-pot 300mm kit requires a 53mm offset 16" wheel, and their 4-pot 330mm kit needs a 50 mm offset 17" wheel, are your wheels really are a 46mm offset? sounds pretty wide.
I hear spacers are not really a safe option in the longterm.

I cleaned the back of the wheel and found the figure is 48mm offset, and the wheel is 7.5" wide. This set up is exactly the same as UK 16" wheels that take the 4 pots (7" wide and 53mm offset).
I think the problem is the spoke design for these wheels. They must be very thick.
The next step will be to see if it is possible to remove any metal here.
Another possibility is to remove several mm off the face of the 4 pots. The Subaru letters add 1mm at least.
Can anyone tell me the safe distance from the face of the 4 pots to the inside of the wheel, to avoid rubbing during major cornering?
