To keep the speedo accurate you can fit

205/45/17 or 215/40/17

205/45/17 is standard size. 215/40/17 is very close but gives you a better choice in tyres. Good year F1's and Toyo proxies aren't available in standard size.

got 215/45 on mine - 40's might be a bit too hard on roads around here.

roads around here
roads around where? Uk? Mars?

Can't say I really notice a harsh change in ride quality from my original Pirelli 205/45's to my Goodyear and Toyo 215/40's.

Biggest thing is road noise, but that's down to tyre type than just profile size.

I just got some 17s put on my classic Tyres are F1 215/40/17s. So what pressures are good as a starting point, 34F 32R sound good?

Which would people choose for minimum road noise then? I've been recommeded 17" 215/40 SO3s and the F1s, but would appreciate others' thoughts.

Cheers

Its interesting... in the US the standard size for 17s on a classic is 215/45/17. Though, the car comes standard with 205/55/16 on the 16" wheels, I think you guys have 205/50/16...
