Brake upgrade
Are 22b & STi disc brakes the same size & thickness.
If this is not the case can 22b calipers be used with STi disc brakes.
Finally are the pads a different fit & is it worth using 22b calipers in preference to standard STi 4 pots.
Thanks for your time

There is absolutely no difference with the size and performance of the 22B Brakes to the STI ones apart from the 22B Calipers are in Red.
Even to look at they are identical and use the same Pad and Disc as the STI ones, some people have advertised 22B brakes at a Premium even though they are identical to std ones and UK or STI 4 Pots are identical too so get yourself a used set from the Sales Forum for around £200-250 for a good set.
Hope this clears it up.

Been offered a pair of 22b calipers with @ 2k miles for £350. No other parts with them.
Not sure if its worth it, when you can buy big disc conversions £800-900. These would be going on a 93/94MY with standard brakes @ present.
What do you think ?

Out here, they do offer both the 4-pots in blazing red (22B) and in flat (non glossy) black.
It's a vanity thing as the calipers are exactly the same but they charge anywhere from JPY8,000-10,000 more for red.
Given that my 4-pots were the non-glossy ones, I almost wish I had sprung for the extra to get the "22B" calipers as I now want to paint them...
Cheers.

And the interesting fact is that the matt black calipers will perform better because black is a better radiator colour wise than red. Also a coat of red paint will act as an insulator.
