Brake caliper seals duff!

On fitting my new discs and pads - disaster!
One of the caliper piston seals is perished and leaking a small amount of fluid.
Has anybody else suffered the same problem - are they easy to change? Car is 96 model UK turbo, 2-pot calipers.
I take it it's not safe to use in this condition!
