Question

My Bridgestone Potenza OEM tyres on my MY99 Turbo are 10K old and have about 4mm of tread left on them. The edges of the tyres are now badly cracked as if the rubber has perished. The car is now sliding all over the place and tramlines very badly.

Has anyone else suffered with this?

Cant see any evidence of cracking as mine are about 3/4mm left but can certainly agree with Paul -they really are tramlining badly -so bad i thought something was wrong with the steering!
Bit annoyed at having to change tyres with as much tread as this left, but it does'nt seem safe if they continue to deteriorate as bad as this - at lesst the consolation will be really good grip - something Ive not yet experienced on my car since I bought it in August last year...

By the way anyone know where I can gert some Eagle F1 ZR16's in or arounf Hull/E.Yorks or maybe W.Yorks - Ive had a quote of £125 a corner, but Im sure I should be able to get them for £90/£100??

Strangely i do, God i sound like an advert for these guys.
Try Tyres Northampton 01604 588599 and ask for Mark - Tell him you have an Impreza and you should get a discount. i paid £ 92 inc. per corner for F1's

I have no connection with these guys, I would reccommennd them every day of the week 'cause they treat their customers and their cars to a first class service. They do a lot of work on Imprezas and i trust the to work on my car.

Thumbs up

Just had 4 F1's 16" fitted at Oldham Tyres. £342 all in, including concealed balancing. it's certainly worth while ringing round for a better deal (bit far from Hull though). Thanks to Paul W for putting me on to them. too early to comment on the handling but the tramlining has gone.

I've found my Toyo's to be better than the F1's. But if thats what you want then have a trip to Carlisle - F1's = 280 all in for 4, although that was 6 months ago so prices may have changed.
