Went to Graham Goode Racing today and picked up some new style AP 4 Pot Calipers with 330mm Discs, Bells come in Anodised Gold as do the mounting Brackets which look awesome with the 22B wheels

Carbon Met Pads fitted and I noticed the difference instantly! I was amazed on how good these things feel. The best thing was the price which was £1,270 including VAT for everything including Carbon Met Pads, I would reccomend this kit to anyone even though I havent had the chance to experience the full potential until Oulton Park next Sat.

Many thanks to Wayne at GGR and Elvis and Mark at Tyres Northampton who fitted them for next to nothing I did loose my locking key which resulted in Elvis breaking the old ones to me. LOL

I am a very very happy man

Harj, I would recommend upgraded pads for track use. If you got the standard Z rated pad with the kit.

Contact me if needed.

Cheers Dan, I got the Carbon Metallics with the Kit instead of the standard set-up. These are only £75 a set which I think is cheap!

Harj,

from experience, even though my APs could not have been more meticulously fitted, they needed bleeding after a couple of hundred miles - made a HUGE difference to quality and pedal feel.

I believe that having to rebleed is fairly common.

harj,

those brakes look great! Do you know which caliper family (model number) your AP's belong to and how they might compare with the 5200 style (such as those supplied by AP and ScoobyMania)

TIA

Harj,

What wheels are they ?

I'm looking for a set of 17" wheels for a dark green turbo. Yours look cool, but do they come in silver or anthracite ?

Exclamation

Andrew,

They are 22B standard wheels! They won't fit on your car, as the 22B has slightly more room under the arches.

I have seen similar wheels in silver and gold, for a normal Subaru, but they were only available from Japan, and they were outrageously expensive!!

Hope this helps
Andy

Andrew your welcome to buy a set of official 22B wheel but they are 8.5" wide so they won't fit a normal Scooby and they sell for £1000 per wheel without rubber

Time to call Japan for a spare set I think.

Thanks guys,

Looks like its back to the drawing board again.

If you saw last weeks AutoExpress, then the wheels on the new Evo are exactly what I am looking for.

Guess I'll just have to keep looking ...

Thanks Carl,

Time to start saving, looks like the RX wheels are the way to go ...

Anyone know of any good BBS stockists in the Edinburgh area (only Glasgow listed on the BBS website).

I think BBS Direct will ship to you (and include a fitting voucher that you take to National Tyres or something). I think £1145 is a pretty good price, considering that the Toyos will be nearly 400 quid and you can probably sell your old wheels/tyres for 250 quid (if they're 16"ers).

Carl,

Good point, but I get the feeling that I would be better off with either Bridgestone S02s or Goodyear F1s. From what I have read, they cost a little bit more, but grip better and make less road noise.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong (anybody out there with Toyos).

Andrew.

Interesting the AP discs seem to be the old crossed design, not the newer sine wave design.

Or are there 2 choices of discs?

AFAIK there are many choices of disc, and many choices of groove design for the AP kit.

I am far from convinced that the groove design makes a difference on a road car.

Mind you, that's the funniest looking sinewave I've ever seen

Greg.
I first saw that design on some discs made by a German company, the 'A.T.E. Power Disc' I think it's called. This was a couple of years ago. Seems their claims were justified if AP/Brembo now do a similar one.

Mattski I couldn't get a decent price on 6 Pots and I needed some brakes that day!!!

Glad ive got the 4's not 6's cus I keep getting lock-up everywhere

22B doesn't have ABS so I can't stamp on the brakes.

Hmm, good point on having no ABS...

Surely it would be o.k. without ABS tho, hasn't the Scoobymania/Scoobysport car got 6-pots with no ABS?
