Bedding-in procedure for DS2000 pads
#1
I've got the Alcon/Prodrive brake kit and due to the various well known problems my dealer has agreed to change the discs and pads, plus two front wheels.(Thank you Prodrive)
When I first had the kit fitted I wasn't told of any specific bedding-in process. Subsequently learned on the BBS that Prodrive recommended X no' of stops at 60 mph etc.
These new bits should be on the car by next weekend, so any advice would be gratefully received.
Mike Wood, any suggestions?
Thanks
Steve.

From memory its 10-15 stops from 50/60 mph using light to moderate pedal pressure, let them cool, then 10-15 from 70/80 mph using increasing pressure. Recommended not to come to a complete stop. Mine were smoking a lot after the second lot but no probs since.
I have found that bleeding the brakes quite regularly keeps the pedal nice and firm, but there again I'm fussy.

Oohh.
I heard (and have susequently practised) using only gentle brake pedal pressure for the first 150 miles or so. This allows the disks to warm up and cool down gently, allowing them to "work harden" in the process.
After the 150 miles, I was advised to still treat the brakes gently for another 350 miles.
However, a couple of laps of Milton Keynes will run your brakes in nicely in about an hour!
