Question

I left my MY99 in the office car park all day, at night I drove toward the barrier and when I applied the brake the pedal was solid and did not slow the car. I pulled on the handbrake to stop and pressed hard on the pedal a couple of time and it then felt OK. There was a lot of snow in the carpark but not enough to cover the caliper.

It felt like the caliper had seized and then released with the harder pressure. I have been very cautious when first getting in the car since but it has been OK.

Anyone else had this problem or care to throw any light on it.

I had a similar problem with a Pug 406, washed the car then it froze where I hadn't Leathered off(wheels). Rear calipers seized on!! Doh!!!
Was there snow when you parked up, if so your calipers may have been covered in snow which melts round the calipers/pads and re-freezes, so seizing them off.

Hope this helps.
Iain.

I have a 97 sport and when there is snow on the ground and the abs cuts in my pedal goes rock solid. Was there snow on the ground enough to make the wheels lock up?, as this has now happened a few times(I HATE ABS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) funnily enough once was going towards the barrier at my work.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys
I think/hope it could just have been water around the caliper that froze during the day, it was VERY cold. It has not happened again but it was a horrible feeling having no brakes.
