I have two questions:

1. Can we discoonect the ABS from our Impreza's Turbo's??

2. Can we put a switch in to turn it on and off depending on the conditions??


The reason i ask this, is as you all probably know ABS and these icey conditions don not mix. Only yesterday I had an off thanks to ice (no damage, luckily!!), but more importantly if my brakes did not have ABS when I hit the hard grass then I would stopped a whole lot quicker and not panicked because "blimey my brakes don't work". Hard grass and non ABS will stop you a whole lot quicker, and confidently.

Believe me i spent years racing around my garden in an old banger as a kid.

On the hard grass and all i could feel was that ABS vibration.

No ABS I know I would of stopped so much earlier.

I actually had to use cadence braking just to stop. My leg was jumping up and down on that peddle for dear life as the tress loomed closer.


To sum up:
Basically ABS, ice, snow etc results in NO brakes. This will make you panic, for a split second. A split second is generally all the time we have to avoid an accident.

I want to turn the ABS OFF.!!.

Wouldn't put a switch in.

Insurance company wouldn't look on that to kindly if you had an accident.

Could just pull fuses for ABS system. Can't remember which ones they are (there are 2). This was discussed last month spmetime.

Rather than pull the fuse, insert a blown one - this will save any questions should you have an accident.
