Question

I have 215/40/17 Yoko A520s fitted to my Speedline STs.

As I still have the standard suspension, the gap between the body and tyres seems too big.
(The tyres look a bit TOO skinny!)

I can't afford to have adjustable suspension fitted just yet and as my tyres are due to be replaced, I wondered if slightly higher profile tyres would fit without rubbing.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't go any bigger than 215/45x17, and certainly no wider.

I have known a few cars run 215/45x17 tyres without any rubbing problems (52 offset wheels).

Hi Ben,

So you've worn them out then.!

You could think about fitting some different springs - Eibach ? Slightly lowered ?
I think powerstation do these, might be worth a word.

Steve.

Cool

Thanks for the advice - In the end I went for another set of 215/40/17's (Toyo T1'S) AND LO AND BEHOLD...... It looks fine.

The tyres on there before were barely road legal and without any tread, looked a bit skinny.

New boots after Donno on Saturday (they blistered! ) and all is well. (New vented, x-drilled discs and EBC red pads too - expensive day in the end!)

Steve B - The car is booked into Regal (Southampton) on Friday for a set of PI springs - apparently Eibach no longer make springs for MY96 or older. Should be nice'n'low for the weekend

I got pretty much the same, except I went for SO2s and the EBC green pads - figured I could switch to Red/Yellow at the next track day.

Let me know what you think of them once you get them bedded in!
