salsa,
you don't say where you want to use your brakes.....ie, road or track.
I changed my std brakes on my MY93 WRX for EBC discs and Green pads purely for road use, and the results have been excellent!
The pads need no warm-up and are pretty resistant to fade in normal use. I would suggest this route if you intend to upgrade your brakes for for day to day driving.
I believe the Red pads are closer to track-spec, and need a short warm-up period before they work properly - which may be a pain in traffic in the rush hour! I think Red Stuff is generally advised for track use only.....
I'm sure different people will have different opinions though......

I used EBC Greenstuff pads on my 1995 car with standard disks and found them to be excellent.
Stef seems to be the only person who has owned up to using Redstuff. He wasn't very impressed but that was using them on track with his AP brakes.

I have used all of EBC's pads in my AP's bar the Greens, but they were superb in my standard brakes on the road.
DO NOT USE THEM ON TRACK.
Having said that, the Reds weren't much better, and only lasted 1/2 day.
I went through set of Yellows at the last Donno day as well.
If you don't use your brakes like I do on the track, they may be OK.
Otherwise, I'd look at other alternatives.
Stef.

I changed my standard set-up to EBC Turbo grooved discs with Green pads.
I haven't ventured near a track, so I don't know how they would perform there, but for day to day road use they are fine.
The idea of the grooves in the discs is to de-glaze the pads when they get hot. They seem to do the job since under repeated heavy braking there can sometimes be a distinct burning smell, but virtually no loss in performance!
The Green pads are not recommended for track use. I guess if you intend to do some serious track stuff, you would want to take a seperate set of pads with you?

After talking to Pete at S/Sport have gone for grooved discs all round and Pagids(more expensive)plus braided hoses.
Early indications good, although the dust is a little more sticky on the wheels.
Big test comes at Snetters next sunday.
Will post the results.
Car is UK with twin pot fronts.

JC,
I'll be at Snett on Sunday with Brembo Group A disks and Pagid pads, if you want to see what braking can be like! (lap after lap after lap) Stef is right, don't expect too much if you are still using standard callipers.
