Question

perhaps you can tell us when this problem started, your model year etc etc. Sometimes ABS lights come on after the suspension/wheels have been disturbed during a service or after an alrm fitment etc

the more info the better!

Question

Thanks Sunilp, quick reply, yes details. The car is a year old with 13000kms/7500mls on clock so recently had it 7500mls serviced, shortly after that, the light would come on after around 10 mins of driving, now about a week later, it stays on. No mods made to car (alarm or otherwise). Hope you can help.

I once had a similar problem on my MY97. A cable connector situated under the rear seat (left side) has come loose during the installation of the ICE. After it was reconnected properly, the problem disappeared. (But it took my dealer a whole day to locate the problem !!!)

Hope this helps!

Dan

I've had a similar problem. I was driving on the M20 last week and the ABS light came on (at the same time as I flashed my foglights at some **** in a probe). When I got off the motorway onto a quiet back raod I jumped on the brakes to see if the ABS had failed. Yep, the wheels locked up leaving a Toyo skid mark. The next day though, no warning light and the ABS worked .

No help, I know, but as the cars quite new, get it checked out!

I noticed my ABS warning light stayed on after a trip to a 4 wheel alignment centre.

My dealer diagnosed a faulty ABS sensor and was able to arrange its replacement under warranty, which is nice :-)

Trev,

Had this happen one day on my old 5dr MY97.

Braking was fine and ABS seemed to still work but when starting the car the ABS light would come on as the ABS system check was performed. Light would then go out as normal after a few seconds but would come on once over 10-20 mph It then stayed on until engine was stopped.

Dealer first thought it was the ABS relay then conceded that it was not and ended up replacing the ABS motor under warranty.

Rich.

Question

Was it the ABS motor which was at fault?

Thanks,

Robert.

You are a genius!! My light came on this morning after i had fitted my new 4 point harness.... But didnt put the 2 together...

It turned out to be that i had kneeled on one of the wire connectors whilste bolting the harness in!

Wouldnt have even thought of looking there if it wasnt for the comment about the rear seat!!

Could be severe RF interference from Motorola causing your ABS to think it has a fault.

One other reason for the ABS light to come on and stay on is both the brake lights are out. It happened to me on my Bug, and I saw dollar signs flashing before my eyes, but luckily it turned out to be the bulbs!
