Question for Steff I suppose

Changed my pads from red to yellow stuff yesterday, the instructions clearly state that they are not for road use.

Went for a drive thinking that the brakes would not work until I got some heat in them...what a suprise even the first touch on the brake pedal there was more bit than the reds???

The pads are now fully bedded in and all I can say they are AMAZING(compared to the reds anyway!)

Thought I would give EBC a ring and find out why the pads were not for road use...EBC.. cagey or what!!! I was told that the compound could become flakey if high temp's were not acheived ??

He then told me that the disk should have been cleaned to remove any carbon deposit's even though the box stated that EBC do thing's very diffrently to their competitors i.e kevlar not carbon??

anyone shed some light??

cheers Jon

Question

What brakes does your car have?

Are they the two pot, four pot or have you got an AP or Brembo conversion.

Jon.

I also preferred the Yellow Stuff over the Reds on the road, as the initial bite even when cold was far better. I did use wet/dry paper on the discs before changing the pads, as you should always do if changing compounds. I was told the Red and Yellow use similar compounds so it should be OK.
The Yellows were the best all-round EBC pad I've used and were also very good on track.
I may even put them back in after my current ones now I have newer discs.

Stef.
