Gary

Just a small point

Prodrive 99MY front pads are £140 which I don't feel is overpriced in comparison to Pagid at £150

Biggy
I got Pagid grooved disks for £112 +vat and Pagid FR pads for £98 +vat at Scoobysport.
These were for a 95WRX so prices may differ for yours.

Hope this helps

Whilst you are swapping stuff around you should also get some braided hoses - around £60 I think, and some good fluid. This will give you much better 'feel'. I recently did pads/discs and hoses on mine - lasted far past the point where my old standard 4pot set-up had faded.

Mike - Pagids are just as overpriced but do get a better 'write up' than the Ferrodos. Mintex @ £60 (£50 if you know who to ask) can't be beaten!

Biggy.
If you intend to use your car purely on the road, I can highly recommend the new EBC Turbo Groove discs combined with EBC Green Stuff pads. There are also Red Stuff, but I found them a bit of a pain persoanlly as they didn't work from cold. Greens give off no dust either.
My mate has got this combination on his car (as now have several other people ) and it performs superbly.
TYRES NORTHAMPTON will supply and fit this combination for £250 + vat!!!!
Call Mark on 01604 588599 for more details.
He will be at Donno tomorrow as well.

Stef.

I agree that the Mintex do appear attractive on price at £50-60 so long as they are M1155. We have heard of lots of people that have bought Mintex pads from their local factors or similar and found they are not M1155 when they have faded very quickly on the road.
We have now changed over to DS2000 as they offer significantly better performance, are not noisy and are much kinder to the discs.
You get what you pay for, as you already know, because you have obviously tried all of the pads you mentioned.

Regards

Mike

Thumbs up

Biggy,

I am one of the "serveral other people" that Stef refers to with EBC Turo Grooved disks & Green Stuff pads fitted. Had them done by Tyres Northhampton for the price above about 500 miles ago.

Strongly recommend both the kit AND the supplier. Great coffee too!

Suresh

P.S. Has Mintex 1155's on std disks before and they squealed like bu66ery! EBC kit definately creates less dust than 1155's too.

Nick,
Last cas was MY99 now have MY00 pads on both wear very quickly,so as already mentioned fitted the Mintex pads as well as braided hoses and replaced with Dot 5.1 fluid, vast improvement the whole lot came to just £100 well worth the money.

(Supplied by Falkland in Scotland)

Cool

I thought Prodrive pads were in fact Ferrodo DS2000's! I am using bremsport 12 groove disks with EBC greens and they are bedding in nicely . I fitted EBC discs and Greens to my freinds Ren 19 16v and he loves em. (they have as standard a single piston sliding caliper on the front!!)

Thumbs down

I've just binned a set of 6 week old EBC disks. The grooves and dimples (they aren't drilled all the way through) had worn away on the centre part of the swept area of both discs, leaving no discernable evidence that they had even been there. My Mintex pads had not worn out. Both were fitted brand new at the same time. I only use my car on the road and feel that these discs are poo to say the least.
I have subsequently spoken to the owner/manufacturer of Black Diamond discs who has explained why this has happened. It's not good news if you are after a quality item!
