Firstly, apologies if you read this on 22b in the transition between Scoobynet and Scoobynet 2!

I think this is a common problem, but would like to get a definitive answer.
I have had my MY99 for 9 months and have done 13.5K miles. The brakes started squeaking after around 7K miles and they were looked at at the 7.5K mile service - they basically cleaned them up which sorted it for about 30 miles!

I then took it to another dealer who took them apart and said there was nothing wrong - it carried on though. I took it back and they replaced the pads. This solved it for around 200 miles and then it came back.

The squeaking occurs under moderate braking and only kicks in after they have warmed up.

I have mentioned to the first dealer that I want them looked at in the 15k mile service, and he said they would, but prety much said they couldn't do much about it and it may be down to Subaru using different pad lining

Can anyone help???

Cheers
Peter

Sounds like the pads might be glazing. Do you give them chance to warm up before 'stamping' on them?

Squealling brakes are quite common with Imprezas.

Personally I've got used to it now, and don't even notice it any more!
