Cheap fix for gold wheel scratches
#1
And I mean cheap!! If you have gold wheels (like my Speedline 17's) and you've ever scuffed the rims, you'll know that the gold comes off to reveal silver. Even a minor scratch can look very unsightly and is very obvious from a good distance.
Well, I've been looking at ways to cover up a couple (ahem ) of marks on my wheels. A new wheel and tyre is £350 , a wheel on its own is £180 and a respray/refurbishment is anything from £50-100.
Needless to say, I wasn't about to part with that sort of cash for a couple of scratches, so my investigations took me further afield. To WHSmiths in fact. Yep, WHSmiths sells gold ink pens for the princely sum of £2.99 . I bought one of the ones with a caligraphy nib, for that extra bit of control. A good shake (of the pen!) a quick dab and hey presto! Horrible silver patches disappear under perfectly colour-matched gold paint!!
Yes, the match (for my wheels at least) is good enough to be invisible unless you kneel down and look for the marks.
So, is the cheapest fix yet, or can anyone import them cheaper from Europe?
