Should I upgrade my brakes?
#1
Hi,
My dealer has informed me that it is time to replace my rear discs and all pads. It is a pretty expensive job and I was wondering if anyone could recommend an upgrade while I am having them done, or somewhere cheaper or both!!
My car is a UK my94 with 16" wheels.
The Quote I got from the dealer is:
Rear Disc each £84.96 + VAT
Front pads £109.53 + VAT
Rear pads £59.17 + VAT
Total Parts 338.62 + VAT
397.89
Labour 113.85 + VAT
133.77
TOTAL 531.65
cheers

The labour depends on if you can do it yourself or not. It's a relatively straight forward job, so if you get the parts you should be able to get it done cheaper.
Shop around for the bits, for example Falkland Performance do the Mintex 1155 front pads for £60 (£80 incl VAT & Delivery).

Definitly shop around for pads (I've just been doing this for my MY98). Demon Tweeks do 1155s for a pre '97 for 63.74+vat.
My dealer was quite happy to fit pads I'd supplied myself, so it may be worth asking.
