Tyre Wear on Prodrive Settings
#1
I have been running Prodrive settings for the past 14k miles. All tyres are showing much more wear on the outside edges. Is this normal?
I was expecting greater wear on the inside edge.

Steve.... for what its worth I think you will find if you drive the car enthusiastically even with Prodrive settings you will wear the outside edges out unfortunately. If you are wearing the outside edges on your rear tyres I suggest you get a place with Rich Burns in the Rally Team, or check the settings!
I have worn the outside edges off my front tyres (now on the back) in about 7/8,000 miles with a 1.5 negative camber (more than Prodrive) and Leda suspension. It is really a viscous circle. I think the more you improve the handling of your car the more inclined you are to drive the car harder, and you end up stressing the tyres even more.
Is the wear rate on your tyres across the centre and inside edge uniform, because if so you might be able to live with a bit more camber, and or toe in.
I have experimented with various settings over the last 4 months and have found 1.5 negative camber, and 1.5/2mm toe in to be best on the front.
Incidently every time I have had the geometry changed, the previous setting have always moved slightly off that which was set, particularly the toe in. It might be worth checking this. There is a simple way to check if anything is wildly out yourself, and I will happily let you know how to do this if you so desire.
