HELP - I've done the dummest thing ever...and lost the locking wheel nut key off MY95.

Question is:
1) Did SUK fit locking wheelnuts as a FACTORY fit item in 95 or was it a dealer fit option
2) Can I get replacements?

*Please* , if anyone knows e-mail me on andyp@romaxtech.com.

Yours desparately,

Andy

PS. The story goes like this:
Rotated the wheels round on my Scooby, tightened the wheel nuts up, went for a spin to bed them in......FORGOT to take the locking wheelnut key OFF..Doh.

I was in Charlie browns recently and the mechanic said they have a special tool for removing locking wheel nuts.

Don't know if he was joking or on about a sledge hammer !!!

Just a thought.

Darren.

Milky,

*ouch* - I was thinking of something a little gentler than a sledgehammer.

The wheelnuts I have are the ones with 3 recessed holes and the rotating outer shell to prevent use of mole-grips and the like (oh dear, given it away now!) - is this the same on all Scoobies or do different dealers fit different types? If it's a std SUK fitment then I should be okay to order a std replacement.

Sounds like they're a dealer fit option (a guess like CAT1 alarms, until recently) so I've really got to track down the original dealer and see if they can remember what type they used at the time.

The little suckers seem quite expensive, so I've really on for a replacement key so I can still use them.

Andy

PS. Robski - I've e-mailed you.r.skinner@virgin.netr.skinner@virgin.net

thats the one, will reply later.
To be honest tho, I wouldnt use that sort, I have had them before, and the inner part is quite soft. After repeated removal by garages etc the inner part starts to warp, and sooner or later it will let go.

If you get desperately stuck, the specialist tool mentioned is probably only something as simple as 'GATOR-GRIP'.

Hello,

A friend lost his key once and we used a set of locking vice grips to grab the nut and turn it. We really marred the finish of the nut, but he paid US$20 and got a new set afterwards. So that will work if you can't get an extra key.

Andy,

I have the same locking nuts and they are called "Trilock".

I bought them from an accessory dealer.

Thanks

Gavin

You should have got a sticker with them with a key number on it, so you could order a repacement key or nuts ??? The sticker is usually stripey pink ?

Done the same thing myself. I hammered (very carefully ) a socket that was just a wee bit smaller onto the locking nut then used a wrench to remove it. Had to buy a new set afterwords though.
Cheers Greg
