Road legal slicks???
#1
Ive been reading a lot about road legal slicks, and was wondering if anyone has any experience of them as an everyday tyre(for a low milage driver)?
What is the wear rate like?
Do they only work properly in the dry?
Is there many companys who make them? If so who?
And is the sizing the same system as normal road tyres (205-50-16 v etc)?
Cheers.....JAMES

Don't Dunlop make some? There was an article in EVO 2 months ago - Adrian Neweys Turbo ELise. Has these dunlops on it - look like bike tyres.
I think someone previously was looking into getting some.
Haven't seen anything since though.

I looked into these a while ago. There are Dunlop D98J's or Yokohama do some A032R too. Both look EXTRA sexy, but I was put off by the tyre place when they said youd be lucky to get 5000 miles out of them, being cut slicks. You'd be unlikely to get them even slightly warmed up on the roads, and you'd certainly have to change your driving style in the rain!!

The Yoko A032R's are very popular with the Caterham crowd as they are the business in the dry and perfect for a low mileage sunny day car such as a Caterham.
They'd be perfect for trackdays on a Scooby but not for everyday use for the reasons mentioned above.
People like Colway and Maxsport make remould semi-slicks and they are dirt cheap at around 40 quid a corner. (Don't know if they run to a 16" or 17" size)
