rim damage - repair options? + gold paint code
#1
managed to put my first mark on my car this week - an encounter with a deep pothole led to the rim touching the edge of the hole - result = 3 inch scuff on the rim to a depth of 1mm in places -
two quick questions....
1.) what is the colour code for the gold paint on sti wheels?
2.) what is the best method to remove unsightly kerb damage economically ?
(before I get a steel file out and make it look a lot worse )
cheers,
Paul W , black sti v5, lots of extras, one scuffed wheel ;-(

Colour code for STi wheels is 58 Saffron Yellow (Gold).
To repair the damage their are a number of refurbishers who blast the wheels, repair the damage and powder coat for about £30 per wheel. Perhaps one of them could do the preparation and you can then get it sprayed the correct colour. I know of such a firm in Yorkshire but it depends where you are.

My wheels are currently "in" getting powder coated.
I searched for a while (three different places) but I *did* manage to find a powder coat shade which IMHO matched the original paint colour on my 16" wheels (on my Terzo; I assume it's the same colour as STi gold wheels)
I'm getting them done by Bead Blasting Services in Edinburgh - 0131 556 6675. According to the guy there they do lots of work for the local dealers.
I'll report on quality when my wheels come back (but the set he had waiting for collection when I went in looked great)...
