Default Green Stuff pads

My WRX is in for its 50k service next week (16 month's old!) and have had a few people rave on about these Green Stuff brake pads. They say that braking is improved, disk life is extended and there is very little dust. Just wondering if anyone has any info?

Cheers!

:-)

How can you have better braking and less dust?

You can make the pad compound harder, which reduces pad wear but increases disc wear.

Mike. The "old" Green Stuff compound was well known for being not very good (and that's being kind). The latest one (called "AF44/78") is supposed to be markedly improved, but I've not experienced this material as yet so can't comment.

If you can't be absolutely sure that your dealer is going to fit the new compound, I wouldn't bother with these, get a known good "warm road" pad like Mintex M1144 instead.

I think 1 days testing whilst beding them in is not really a sufficient amount of time. Your gonna have crap brakes for a good week or so.

Ferrodo pads on mine. You can stamp on the brake and hold just before ABS kicks in. They are superb.

its not that kind of braking that worries me, its the kind that makes them fade after 1 decent high speed stop

been planning ahead for sum trackdays this summer
ideal would be sum 6pots, not sure if funds can allow that this year tho

I'm after some new pads as well. But I don't want warm road pads, I want good ones that bite when they're cold. The last fast road pads I had I nearly crashed cos they weren't warm and didn't bite very well.

I don't wanna have to remember to warm up my brake's before using them!

I fitted Green pads all round 12 months ago. Stock Stiv3 brakes. I have driven 3000 miles and 10 hill climb full-on competitions.
You don't get dust worth talking about
You don't get disc wear
You don't get any improvement over stock pads
You DO get a lighter wallet
You DO wonder about advertised claims!

I need a pad that gives great braking from stone cold and some max braking when it is all happening on the hill climb track...any suggestions?

EBC Red Ceramic's, as tested and raved about by John F.
Cant find the review, as cant search, but its in General under EBC free brake test.
