I have got 205 45 17 pirelli pzeros at the moment but they need replacing. Looked at a couple of companies on the net and falkens@63 and pirellis@107each. is it worth paying more or is there a big difference??

I have the federal ss595s on my scoob. They came as part of the wheel and tyre deal. I think they are a top tyre, good wear rating, they have a very similar design to the toyos. I havent had any issues in the dry or the wet. Even when really pushing it. They are very predictable. Also like the rim protection round the edge.
I have a MY00 PPP with 215/40 * 17s.
Check here http://www.imoc.co.uk/tyres/tyres.asp?MenuID=16 this will give you owner ratings on different brands of tyres.
I will be sticking with the Federals.
