Got terrible understeer, the front of my car is washing away in the wet, suspect its my tyres (had eiibachs, Prodrive geometry and uprated link bars, tried adjust preasures etc also).
I cant afford to replace all 4 tyres at once so thinking of fitting front Goodyear F1's then when I can fitting the rears.
Is this advisable or should I just wait till I can get all 4?

You don't say what tyres your running at the moment, but I take it they are not F1's. Having different tyres front and back especially when the fronts are new and the backs are well worn is dangerous for you and possibly damaging to the car. I personally would take it easy until I could afford to swap all 4.

Dave.

Question

I had same problem. I spoke to Subaru and was advised that i could put new tyres on the front so long as back tyres had 50% or more (4mm or more) Just today I had F1's put on front - i have P-zeros on back with 4mm exact. If this is definately not a good idea please let me know.

I wouldn't be worried about this unless it was a case of having 2 performance tyres and 2 budget tyres which had massively different grip levels. As long as both types are reasonable tyes - just change the two. No point chucking out a pair of decent tyres with plenty of tread left for no reason.

But don't chuck it sideways into the first corner in the pouring rain just to see what it will do. Handling characteristics at the limit with mixed tyres, even with good tread, can be interesting, so take it easy at first.
