After doing a very hard track day at Knockhill my car was parked up in the paddock (without handbrake on)to cool off. When I went to drive home about 30mins later a loud squealing noise was coming from the back brakes as if they were seized on.After a few hundred metres it went away but since then I have had a high pitched, intermittent squeal off them all the time.Is there anything I can do or is it new discs? If so which do you recommend? Prices? (MY99 uk turbo) Ta

Cool

Hi m8,
On the rear brakes, their is a wear indicator, it is a couple of flaps of metal which rub against the disc when the pads are low, it sits on the fitting lug of the pads and causes the symptoms you have described.
I had this on MY00.
Hope this helps

Question

You could also have trapped a piece of grit between the disc rear, and the protective plate, which gives similar noises.

Wheel off to check, screwdriver to gently prise it out.
I've had it to do twice.
