squeeking brakes
#1
Hi, I know don't have a scoob but the principles of brakes are very similar across all cars and I thought you lot may be able to help.
I just put on some taroz monza discs and mintex 1144 pads and I get bad squeeking from them. I have cleaned both sides of the discs with meths. Also applied copper greese to the back of the pads. The squeeking is sometimes bad and then sometimes hardly noticeable, it seems to vary.
BTW its a saxo with ATE braking system
Any ideas ??

It's due to the hard pad compound and there's nowt you can do about it I'm afraid. The squeeling goes away when they get hot and start to work properly. One of the disadvantages in fitting fast road pads when there's not a lot of fast roading done!

Most people get a squel with the Mintex 1144's, however you could try shamfering the leading edge of the pad so that it's slightly tapered, that sometimes help, no guarentees though!!
