Wheel noise..

First post for me guys, but this seems to be the place to ask such a question..
I have a 94 WRX import Impreza and just recently heard a whining noise at around 70mph whilst accelerating uphill. This was deffinately the sound that a dodgy wheel bearing would make. (sounds like a humming airplane) Now when I started braking after hearing the humm, I could almost feel some vibrating through the steering and on the brake pedal. But this went away when I set off on my journey. I'm probably going to book it in for a quick service anyway soon, so I might get them to check it out. Just curious as to if anyone else has come across this kind fault ?
It's got to be the wheel bearing IMHO.
