MY02 with standard 17" WRX wheels. The centre caps appear to be turning gold Anyone else have this problem? Thought they looked that way because I park next to a gold Toyota, but don't think this is the cause.

If I wait long enough will the whole wheel turn gold?

Also, what's the best way of getting rid of the tiny black dots that are ingrained on the surface of the rim. Tried all sorts of cleaners, but seems to need something mechanical like a fingernail to loosen, but this is very time consuming. Advice welcome. Clay bar?

I've used a clay bar or that job but it's a right PITA and I would'nt use that bit on the bodywork later...

I changed my std wheels so I could get my fingers in to clean them (it's only a minor excuse that I wanted gold ones... )

One idea is when you've finally got them clean, get a decent layer of wax on them and it puts a protective film on them to make it harder for the crud to stick and easier next time you wash them
