2mm difference - new gear box?

Dealer advises two new front tyres required. Kwik fit advise that if they fit two new 8mm tyres to the front and the rear tyres are below 6mm they must also be changed. Cannot be more than 2mm difference.
Rear wheels will spin faster than front and damage elsewhere can be caused.
Am I looking at four tyres then?
Advice from anyone appreciated.
They'll do 2 Goodyear F1 Eagles for £200 inc Vat and fitting/balancing.

No , you will have a very slight difference in speed between the axles but the slip in the diff will take care of that , if you had different size wheels it would eventually burn the diff out ,but with what you have will cause no problems , perhaps the salesman is on commision
