My cars rear brakes are in a bit of a sorry state, making groaning noises and bind occasionally which is annoying. Just wondering if anyone had changed to anything other than standard!!

What companies provide bigger back brake kits? Any suggestions to manufacturers, prices etc.

Thanks.

Gavin not sure about cost, but Hi-Spec have done a 4 pot rear kit, that keeps the handbrake in use.

I'm looking around as well, there's Godspeed ones (on their website for details) and there's the HiSpec. AP's rear kit won't fit apparently as you'd need to change your handbrake (and the only one that would go on is a hydrolic one - which is illegal for road use anyway).

I' thought that the handbrake just needed to be an independant system, ie, not the same hydraulic system as usedfor the foot brake, there's plenty of rally cars with hydraulic handbrakes, and they get mot's ok!!

From the MOT manual:

> Hydraulic parking brakes as a sole means of operation are not
> acceptable on vehicles first used on or after 1 January 1968.

And yes, you're right, many rally cars have hydraulic handbrakes and also have MOT's.

But all that shows is that the MOT testers don't know their ar*e from their elbow. Or, I'd like to think, that they have enough intelligence and discretion to realise that a hydraulic handbrake on a well maintained rally car is better than a p*xy bit of rusty cable.
