Loud humming sound when braking from speed?
Also, who fitted your godspeed kit & did they make sure that the hub to disc matting faces were cleaned properly ?
Is the vibration coming through the steering wheel ? if not have you checked the rear brakes ?

Any advice gratefully received.....
I had noticed that when braking from high speed, there was a loud "humming" sound accompanied by vibration, which I had assumed to be caused by the front discs/pads needing replacing (which they did).
I have recently changed the discs and pads and had expected the humming sound to go away. Unfortunately it has got worse and is causing me concern. If I press the brake pedal the car brakes as expected, but extended braking (eg braking from 90 to 30) causes a humming/grating sound which gets louder as the speed decreases, and is accompanied by a fair amount of vibration. The brakes seem to work OK and don't fade etc.
My question is, if it's not the brakes, what could it be? Bearings? Diffs? Driveshafts? Something else? I'm no mechanic so any advice will have to be in the simplest of terms!!!
Thanks in advance,
Steve

It could be worth getting a dti (dial test indicator) & checking the hub to disc matting face for distortion.
An other option is getting in touch with Ian Godney (owns godspeed) & see if he has any other ideas.

Ahem, I fitted the discs and pads myself
When I took the old discs off I cleaned the surface of the hub with brake and clutch cleaner, then applied copper grease to the surface before slotting the discs back over the studs. Is that right?

Was it just discs & pads you fitted or was it a big brake kit ?
For a quick fix you could try taking the discs off remove the copper grease with brake cleaner / thinners ect... then give the hub matting face a good clean with a wire brush, remove any dirt you have dislodged with brake cleaner then re-assemble, (when you put the wheel back on get the wheel nuts as tight as possible before you put the car on the ground) & go & see if the problem is still there.

I'm currently have this problem since fitting new discs and pads.
Very loud wooooo noise under hard braking and poor braking performance.
Thought it was the pads at fault but swaped them for another brand and still the same problem.
Brakes have been striped off the car a few times now trying to find the cause but still no luck.
After the last strip down, clean and methodical rebuild I've been driving carefully letting the pads properly settle in for nearly two hundred miles now.
Will be doing a bed in session tonight or tomorrow to see if there any better.
Here's my thred on the problem.
