just done 5500 miles in new 03, but got noticable tyre wear from n/s front- as normal i know from this corner, but scrubbing quite bad already on the outer edge. was running 34 front 32 rear. now put it up to 36 front 34 rear to see if it helps any

Sounds like the wheels are pointing every which way (within factory tolerances, I might add).
Try TSL's geometry setup. It'll cost a ton and a bit but it will sort out the tyre wear and transform the handling.

bejesus £100 for a 4wheel set up ? my local firm in nottingham charges £30 and uses the best technology available (and i mean the best). last time i was in there they had a top of the range porker on the alignment, same price as my humble cosworth. what do you get for your £100 ? new tyres ? cheers nomad

9000 on mine and still going strong. I tried the fronts on 36, but the steering was too light and grip seemed less than on 34.

hmmm - Got mine going in to the dealer this week for EXACTLY the same problem....8200miles and the N/S front tyre outer edge is definately going over on the shoulder.
Looks like poor alignment to me.....

r5obbo,
It's common with 03's as they seem to come out of the factory with NO NEGATIVE CAMBER and some toe out!!! My front tyres were literally cremated at 8K, and I mostly do motorways .....
I had mine done at Powerstation in Cheltenham - £70.50 but they spent ages getting it spot on - even sitting me in the car to get it exact! Even my local Kwik Fit charges £35 for doing the front tracking, so it's not that bad for a full 4 wheel set up.
Steering now has more weight and a lot more feel, there is much less understeer when you really chuck it into corners - and it's much more stable on the motorway .......
I have compromised on 35/32 for the tyre pressures, as above 35 seems to give you more tramlining under braking.

The Subaru 'tolerances' are so wide you could drive a bus through them.
Get the 4 wheel allignment done, and get everything set to the middle of the tolerances before playing with the pressures.
Quite apart from the tyre wear, you'll find it will transform the car.
