Question

Is this as straight forward as the front upgrades front 2 to 4 pots? ie Is it simply a case of removing the discs/calipers, and bolting on the 2 pot calipers & fitting appropriate discs?

It's not that easy no. Basically you will need the back plates too due to the mounting holes for the sliding calipers and the two pots being different (and the fact the diameter of the discs is bigger too). Not sure what replacing the back plates entails or whether any of the handbrake stuff needs to change. Either way i believe it's quite a big job. Nito did this to his old agon and i think he said the bill came to about £1000 all in (new discs etc). Is it really worth it?

Hmm.. thanks for responding. I think some decent new discs & pads may be a more sensible option.

One thing to consider is that around 70-80% of your braking is done by the front wheels, you increase the rear disks, calipers pad/disk contact area and you may well throw the balance out. and radically change the way the car behaves when braking.
It may be overcome with some sort of brake bias mod but then again if you are going to keep 70/80% fronts then it may not be worth it.

I think the brake balance thing is a good point but i doubt that he'd be fitting the 2 pot rears if he has 2 pot fronts too. So say he has upgrade the fronts to 4 pots and then upgrades the rears to 2 pots then maybe he would be getting the balance more it where it was as standard????

Either way i not sure it's worth the hassle. Being a bit of a tart i've thought about changing the rears to 2 pots for about 3 years now and each time i tell myself not to be silly. It's just not worth it just so my front and rear brakes visually 'match'. Plus i may be getting some APs soonish so they wouldn't match anyway .

i had a chat with a subaru specialist, he pointed out I would need to change the hub as the 2 pots would not bolt on as simply as the fronts. I have upgraded the fronts to 4 pot, so I think a new set of Black Diamond discs may be in order. Thanks for all the feedback guys
