I've currently got Mintex 1144 pads fitted to my WRX 4-pots. They are starting to get a little tired, so I have got some prices for more 1144s and also DS2500, which work out almost £60 more!!
The Mintex pads have worked well most of the time (fade a couple of times), but I have been assured that the DS2500s are another step forward. Are they worth spending almost double what a set of 1144s will cost?
If anyone has any experience of both types of pad, I'd like to hear your comments!
Thanks!

I've used both, but my Mintex were 1155s, which are a 'harder' compound for fast road / track use. I couldn't notice much difference between the two, perhaps the Ferodo were slightly better. The Mintex were a lot dustier, and a bit squeakier too, but that might have been the fitting.
If the Ferodo are £60 more than 1144s, why don't you check prices for 1155s ? I found Scoobymania had the best prices for these. Definitely worth considering.

Thanks Tony.
The 1155s were about a fiver more than the 1144s, but I'm a bit concerned about their feel when stone cold. My daily commute is through start-stop traffic, so want something that has a consitent feel and bite (probably asking for the impossible, I know!). I understand that the 2500s are good from stone cold up to very high temps.....?

Dave, I would agree the DS2500s are slightly better overall than the 1155s, but in my experience, the difference is not large enough for me to spend an extra £55 on a set !!
I am currently using 1155s on Black Diamond drilled discs, and I do the stop/start traffic thing almost every day. I have never experienced a lack of stopping power that might be related to the pads not warming up quick enough.
My advice is, if money is not an issue, go for DS2500s, if you are on a budget, go for 1155s.
Hope this helps you decide mate, all the best,
T

I'm on the same set-up as Tony, and had Mintex1155 pads before that. The Ferodo are better for initial bite, and when cold.
Worth the extra.

I am currently running DS2500 in 6 pots and find them a LOT quieter, less dusty and more fade resistant than the 1144's I had previously.
Purchased mine from Roger Clarke Motorsport Ltd. £71.42 +vat.
Also supplied anti-squeal backing for free.

i have DS2500's on my 4 pots, i also used to have mintex 1144's on my 2 pots.
I found the mintex very dusty, squeeled a lot and didnt last long - also got fade suprisingly easy, but that may well have been down to the 2 pots and standard set up (i've since had braided hoses, dot 5.1 etc when i had my 4 pots fitted)
anyway, like i said im running DS2500's with EBC turbogroove discs (note: dont ever buy the pads, theyre sh1te). i've had them on for about 15k now and ive done two 20 min track sessions on silverstone GP circuit. They hardly look worn at all, i've not had any fade (inc on the 2 track sessions) and they produce next to no dust.
IIRC they cost me about £150 inc vat delivered from TSL
Worth every penny IMHO, In my experience (tried EBC & mintex) i wouldnt go for the cheaper options when it comes to stopping, if i had the money i'd get AP's tomorrow, but thats a different issue
