Strong Shouldered Tyres for Milton Keynes driving ?
#1
Help me someone !!! I have an extremely bald tyre and need to get it changed ASAP. Any advice would be most welcome now. All my searches through this site are inconclusive and suggest the F1 is already a great, hard wearing tyre !!

Michelin Pilots have a reinforced side wall, even with no air in the tyre, it only looks like its low on pressure
I know, cos I got a puncture in one,

I have GSD3 S in 16 inch size on my classic shape. Nevewr again, the sidewalls roll dangerously. Pirelli p zeros have a stiff sidewall. I reccomned them highly.

There is an Extra Load version of Goodyears GSD3, you have to metion it when ordering tyres.
But they don't make XL version in all sizes. I know they exist in 215/40-17.

AFAIK Bridgestone S03s have significantly stiff(er than most) sidewalls. Depends what profile you want. Mine are 35 profile on 18s and they're a bit too rigid. I am considering the afore-mentioned GSD3s or Toyos to regain some feel at the front end.

I have GoodYear Eagle F1 GSD3's and they have great grip both wet and dry. However, as with others on this site, I have found that they go completely bald within 3 months on the sidewalls.
I make the most of the MK dual carriageways and roundabouts, rarely drive slowly and sticking tightly to my lane etc, hence the shoulders of the tyres melt/tear away extremely quickly. I had NT5s before which had no grip but lasted longer. The treadwear of my F1s is 280, one of the highest around..!
Can anyone suggest a tyre with re-inforced sidewalls/shoulder which also has goodish grip and is reasonable long lasting ??
(Suggestions based on personal experience or from existing Milton Keynes drivers would be preferible).
Cheers,
Colin.

Note that ZZ3s at the rear and Toyo Proxy T1-S on the front cured my sidewall problem. Both tyres have worn well. My preference is for the Toyo's as the zz3s tramline a bit (see elsewhere).
