Whats the most effective, cheap upgrade I can do to improve the shockingly bad brakes on my MY93 WRX?

I know I can use 2 pots from later models, but do the brakes off even newer cars fit, i.e. larger disks and 4 pots from a bugeye or something?

My car has the 16" STi 5 spoke alloys fitted so I'm looking for something that will fit under those.

There is no point changing to the later 2 pots as the brakes will be the same , fit the 4 pots which will fit straight on under your wheels

The cheapest upgrade is fitting a brake master cylinder support bracket.
It stops the bulkhesd flexing as you load up the pedal.
I've just fitted one and I noticed the pedal is firmer sooner in the travel!
Whether it helps you stop quicker I have't found out yet

Dyney,

Was the difference that noticeable? What brakes do you have?

I'm not happy with the pedal feel on my own car (although the seem to perform extremely well when tested).

I'm having the Dealer check everything's how it should be on Friday, but I'm thinking of getting one of these myself if they say everything's a-OK.

I have the Godspeed 335mm kit. As you say my brakes perform extremely well when tested, but there was a bit of slack in the pedal when you press it.

I thought the bracket was a load of bull, until I had a mate press the pedal as I watched the bulkhead. *£%$!!!

The bracket makes the pedal firmer sooner. Differance was very noticable. Don't think it makes the brakes better but does improve the pedal movement!

Defo worth £55 (or what ever they are now).

Iain.
