OE ones. The various single-piece grooved/drilled/etc. ones available aren't worth the huge increase in cost over the standard parts, as they're still prone to fade and warpage.
There's a disc/bell kit apparently on the way that will fit under the standard four pots. Now that might be worth having...

Hope u don't mind me jumping in on your thread, but you may find it interesting.
Has anyone got any experience of Tarox metal/ceramic discs (on link, click products/fastroad/brakediscs/metalceramic). If these are anything like the ones used on Porkers or the Elise then they should be an option. If they are the same thing then they run at a max of 200'C, so no fade or warping. Opinions please.

I've had them on my car in the past. Couldn't detect any real improvement in braking performance (and I'm hard on the brakes, so if they were better, I'd know!), and they still warped, so, like I said, not really any better than the standard ones, yet they cost four times as much.
The only really good thing about them is the coating, which helps to prevent rust on the non-contacting bits, although OE discs from your friendly Subaru dealer also now have that.
I feel the problem with all these one piece "Group N+" discs is that they share the same flawed design as the OE parts. The joint between the "disc" and the "bell" is a sharp corner with no swan-neck or chamfering, which leads to concentration of stress that no amount of casting selection or heat treatment will get round.
The fact that the disc is comparatively thin to start with doesn't help either.
The separate disc/bell approach should allow a much more optimal design, but until that's around I'm running the standard discs with Pagid RS4.2-1 pads. Suggest you do likewise and spend some of the money you've saved on a set of braided hoses and some race brake fluid.
Edited to say that the discs I'm talking about are the Pagid 8 groove ones, just in case Corradoboy's post causes any confusion!

Hi
No problem with joining thread.
I had tarox on my saph cossie, not the metalceramic ones, and they warped during a relativly steady trackday at goodwood. You know how it is,hard to trust a product once you have had bad experience.

I am running same pads as you, also have braided and race fluid.
Well i think i may well take your advise,as pagid 8 grooves are going to be about £220.If i go for standard discs, what do i ask for, silly question but i bought my 4 pots and discs second hand.do i just ask for discs for a 99 uk turbo are all 4 pots the same.

Yeah, the four pot calipers are all the same, unless they're the bigger Brembo ones used on the new STi's!
The same discs are used on the MY99-00 Turbo 2000, and, I believe, the 01-03 WRX, so any Subaru dealer or Japanese parts specialist should have them.
You might want to try here. £35.19 each plus VAT and shipping.
