direction of tyre tread?

does it really matter if my directional tyre tread is rotated the the other way round on my car?
I want to even out the tyre wear.. so thought swapping from side to side will do that.
Problem is that the direction is swapped too.
I can swap front to back and keep the dirction the same.. but would like to swapp front to rear opposite corners.
Will it make any difference?

they are directional for a reason......the tyre maker will have designed the tyre to accept loadings in certain ways which the tyre can't do if its back to front........would probs be okay as a "get you home" measure but would not recomend this long term!!
swap front to rear, same side and you'll have no problems......

The other thing to consider is that if the tread is a "V" pattern, as on Goodyear F1s, Toyo Proxes, Avon ZZ1s etc, then when they are rotating in the proper direction, it is the "point" of the V that touches the ground first.
This means that if you are driving through water, as more and more of the V touches the road, the water will be pushed along it to the outside of the tyre, thus driving the water out of the gap between tarmac and rubber.
If you put them on the other way around, then the ends of the V are going to hit the road first, and as the wheel turns the surface water in the tread will get pushed inwards towards the point of the V, increasing water pressure. So the water will be unable to escape from under the tyre, and that leads to aquaplaning...

These are only Faulken tyres!
No 'V' shape thread pattern!
I just didn't want the expense of payin to havethem rotated on the rims etc.

This is an absolute don't do except in an emergency Phil.
In the wet the tyres will not disperse water properly giving you far less grip in the wet and an increased risk of aquaplaning.
In the dry you will get increased temperature build up in the tyre which could lead to unstable tyre pressure, tread seperating from the tyre or in the worst case a blow out.
