Question

My 02 WRX has its 30k service in a week (well, it is 8 months old!) and I've got a 770 quote to do the service and brakes! Anyway, the brakes bit is about 350 quid and I was wondering if there are any better brakes to go with over than the standard Subaru fit?

Powerstation suggested some grooved disks with Tarrox (?) pads for about the same amount and they say they'll be massively better than the standards. Question is, will they invalidate my warranty and does anyone here have any good and affordable suggestions? New baby forces penny pinching! :-)

Cheers!

Mike

£350 just for standard front discs and pads ? Seems a bit pricey.
Why not source your own parts and get them to fit during the service, or DIY if you're handy with a socket set ?

I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think aftermarket disc and pads will invalidate warranty on the whole car, as they are consumables. At worst, it may invalidate warranty on the brakes.

I recently got hold of Black Diamond discs and Mintex 1155 pads for my MY98 - excellent combination and on a budget too ! You should be able to pick up what you need for under £200, try Scoobymania or Falkland Performance for best prices.

Hope this helps

I've just fitted DBA disc's and Ferodo DS2500 pads to my MY01 and i have only got another 2 cars to fit them too (Group Buy)and they came in at £300 delivered and are quality, they do take a bit longer to bed in as i've replaced the pads and discs but the also have the T#RT factor and look cool.
