I have the 18" FF7's with 225/40 Toyo's on my new STi8. As the FF7's are 8" wide they stretch the tyres to the point where the wheel rim is noticably wider than the tread. Has anyone else got this combination or have FF7's giving the same effect on other tyres? It seems logical that this would tend to stiffen the sidewall, but to what effect?
As a matter of interest the FF7/Toyo combination is in fact approx. 3.5 kg lighter than the original wheel/tyre!

Hi John I have the same on mine, and yes the tyre is stretched to the point where there is no rim protector protruding over the edge of the alloy which is a pain. As even the slightest mistake results ina kerb

Agreed - same and similar except that the rim protector is still there to do it's job. Having said that, the rim protector will only work in the slightest cases anyway - 1400kg of car is always going to win over a few mm of rubber.....
