how do i increase track?
Hi,
Im thinking about doing a GT style wide arch kit for the classic impreza (not a 22B rep. kit) The arches will be wider than standard, so how do I go about increasing the track (am I using the right word? the width) to fill the arches? How is it done on the 22B, is it just bigger wheels? Also, how much wider is it than standard? Are spacers an option?
Thanks for your help, Rob.

Spacers will put more strian on you bearings and wheel studs which may well want to be replaced with longer items. i would have thought wider wheels would be a better option and perhaps altering the offset.

Thanks Paul.
So can anyone tell me what size wheels would be needed, and how much extra track could be achieved? Was thinking of using 18'', but havent got a clue what offset and width. I am prepared to do a bit of arch grinding
Cheers, Rob.

Rob, I guess you're doing this for style rather than performance.
But the wheel and suspension are set up as one unit and changing the track significantly will bugger up the balance of the 'system'. Heavy steering and tramlining are likely, poor wheel/suspension control, too, not to mention buggered bearings and safetly issues surrounding use of spacers.
If you know what you're doing, fair enough, but in the dyamics department I can only see downsides
Richard.

OK, thanks Richard.
I see what you are saying, but surely there must be a way of doing it, how do these people that have fitted 22B replica kits get on? Or what about the 22B its self, is it a different chassis setup altogether?
Thanks, Rob.
