18" P1 alloys

Thanks for the info on the leggeras, I'll deffinetly be researching a little more now.
How are places like scoobyworld managing to sell the original P1 wheels that you sell for about 400 quid cheaper?
**Edited to say....are the quality rejects you mentioned the P1 wheels that other companies are selling at reduced cost?**

where did everyone who has these get them from.
I will be purchasing a set in the next 2 weeks and am looking for the cheapest place. Obviously Prodrives prices are out of the question.
Thanks

gedi - well i think you should just hold back for a second hand set of 18's prodrive ones if you really must , otherwise ur better going for the prodrive lookalike wheel which is very nice also.

which is the prodrive lookalike wheel?
Do you mean the OZ superleggera?
I don't envisage anyone the be selling their prodrive wheels in the near future. Especially as they will be pretty rare now

Why is there the misconception that these wheels are rare or have we all been believing the sales patter? Plenty available from your nearest Subaru dealer

The prices prodrive are charging are daft. Somewhere in the region of £1800.
I know they were up for sale at places like scoobyworld for around £1200, but all the places that were selling them are now saying they are the last in stock, and have conciquently put the price up.
Seems like a complete rip of as you can get OZ Super Leggeras for £1100 fitted. They are pretty much the same wheel. Prodrive just like to rip us all off !!!!

admitedly, the super leggeras were 1100 fitted with Federal tyres. Pretty sure I can get them to stick better rubber on though paying with cash.
prodrive were selling the P1's at 1800 with pirelli's
scooby world are selling the P1's at 1400 with toyo's

As this wheel is our design (we paid for the tooling, not choosing a existing design produced in large volume) and only available via a Subaru dealer, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that some quality rejects have been dumped into the aftermarket.
I believe that the Superleggera for Subaru fitment has been adapted from another fitment and some customers are experiencing issues with damaged wheels due to enthusiastic use/impact damage.

Just wanted to add our comments here.
None of the products we sell are seconds or damaged in any respect (including the OZ range).
We sold these wheels at the RRP as suggested by our supplier.
I hope this clarifies the sitation.

This wheel is exclusive to Prodrive, it's a Prodrive wheel that happens to be made by OZ, not a normal OZ wheel that is sold to all their customers. OZ do not supply it into the aftermarket, they MUST be supplied via Prodrive or with our knowledge.
From this you can deduce that they are either quality rejects or similar as OZ assure us that they have not supplied any wheels meeting our standards anywhere else.

As per my previous post, the wheels are not seconds, damaged or imperfect in any way. We do not sell any products which are not perfect.
Our supplier has informed us that they purchased them from a European supplier (not O.Z. Racing directly).
O.Z Racing do not supply 'substandard' or 'seconds' in any form.
regards
Wendy

I've noticed that there are 2 types of P1 alloys. One set have a gold center cap and are slightly darker in colour than the other set sold. The others have silver centre caps and are lighter in colour.
Which are the original Prodrive's sold by Prodrive?

There are 2 different specifications, ET53 which is the darker gold with a gold centre cap, as supplied for P1 and UK300 etc, and ET46 which clear the STi brakes which is in the Rally Gold and has a polished effect centre cap.

Is everyone talking about the same wheel here?
OZ have been supplying the SuperL to the aftermarket for a while now. There were some strength issues early on but I believe that has been sorted.
Halfords are doing 20% off wheel/tyre packages at present. 18" SuperL's with toyos for £1000.

O.K. now I'm confused, mine are the darker gold with silver centre cap but I was told that they wouldn't clear the STI calipers

Don't know what offset mine are, they fit my MY01 WRX but wont fit over the calipers on the STI.
I've had a response from Wendy as to their origin which sounds perfectly feasible to me but I'd quite like to run it by Mike Wood so Mike, if you are still monitoring this post, any chance you can drop me an e-mail?
Not knocking Scoobyworld in any way as I was very pleased with their service and Wendy is always very helpful. I'd certainly use them again (unless of course they've sold me shoddy wheels )
