No..
They have "for competition use only" stamped on them and are only acceptable if being used in an authorised (read MSA approved) competition event. They contravene the "Construction and Use" regs otherwise.. However a copper would need to know that as they do have the requisite tread depth (at least when new)

The real danger is if you get involved in a smash, say in the wet, and you're running semi-slicks for competition only. It's obviously a bit stoopid but you could get a real hammering.

I wasn't accturally thinking of putting them on for road use myself!!! I don't fancy big fines and points!!
I was wondering about this sort of tyre as they have over 70% of the surface area covered with tread, and as you know wrc cars + some stage rallies use these sort of tyres for travelling on public roads between special asphalt stages...tommi mak also gets "done" for speeding on public road in between special stages.
thoughts??

As posted previously..
Theyre not illegal per-se as they have the requisite tread depth but they contravene the Construction and Use regs unless theyre being used in an authorised event - like any MSA approved event (incl Rally GB).
Speeding fines are another matter but road sections *should* be organised so that there is enough time to get from control to control without exceeding the speed limit. Anyone speeding or driving dangerously should be endorsed with fines / points etc IMO.

To be legal on public roads tyres need to be DOT marked ( Approved) at least in my Country. You can get several road legal ( DOT marked) Motorsport tyre
Yokohama make several A008 ( No longer on the market) and RS032
They act as a racing tyre and have around 6mm tread from new.
