I am thinking of removing the metal plates behind the discs to let more cooling air onto the discs and have a couple of questions,
1. are there any downsides to this mod ?
2. how easy are the plates to take off ?
thanks, Mike.

The plate are easy to remove, but you have to take the disc off to do it, the only downer is the possibility of getting the odd stone on the disc, shouldn't be a problem though, as long as you don't live up a gravel drive a mile long!

Thanks for the reply, is it just the disc I have to take off or do I have to remove the hub aswell?
Mike.

You need to remove the caliper in order to get the disc off, then the discs should just come off, there are no fixings holding the disc on, then I think there are 2/3 little bolts holding the plate on.
Noyt a dificult job, just make sure you do the caliper bolts nice and tight when you finish, you wouldn't want that coming off would you!!!
