Question

OK,

MY03 WRX is being fitted with PPP in a few weeks (keep pestering the dealer every day to see if the parts have arrived) and I was wondering whether I would require (or notice the difference) on getting a prodrive brake upgrade fitted at the same time. Maybe it's just my car (or the way I drive!) but the standard brakes can feel a bit weak some times.

If so, my budget is going to be limited, so I was looking at the 294mm front brake upgrade £329...

Thoughts?

(might be a silly question - is the £329 for both front wheels or just one?)

Thumbs up

No its for both

There are several Specialists that offer alternatives which include

Scoobysport
TSL
Godspeed

These are good value for money and you will see a significant improvement

Phil,

Thanks for the reply.

I looked at those options, but from previous threads they seem to cause a problem with keeping the warranty...

Warranty Problems

As IMHO the brakes do not affect any other part of the car then this is NOT a problem ie if the engine blows the brakes are not going to be at fault

If the brakes are the issue then the supplier[Scoobysport,TSL etc] will no doubt cover you

I have the Group N+ Kit from Scoobysport and my dealer didn't have a problem

Looks like I will be looking at alternatives then.

Any recommendations for a budget of between £500 and £750?

Do you ever intend doing trackdays? I went from standard 4 pots to 'group N' discs, braided hoses and DS2000 pads and found I'd eliminated fade on the road, but 2 hot laps of a track and they were fading...so I then went to the Prodrive/Alcon 330mm upgrade. I wish I hadn't bothered with the middle step to be honest as I feel that was money wasted.
So...trackday ***** = straight to BIG brakes (AP best regarded and most easily re-sold on)...or fast road use = lots of options as listed above, but 'official' disc upgrade very expensive.
Warranty - as Phil said it's only the actual brake parts changed that would not be covered(maybe the callipers but what are you going to do to them?) so don't sweat it.
Regards
C
