Question

I am toying with upgrading my brakes Does anyone think that, AP 6 pots would be a good idea? Or will I just end up losing rubber (No ABS) Can smoke 'em readily with Group N discs and Mintex 1155s.

My sti5 Type-r has AP 6 pots on it and i can honestly say that they were the best thing i've done to the car!!!

Yes you can lock up the wheels easily at 140mph(Race track obviously)but you will soon learn to break progressivly enjoying fantastic control and not just outright power.

Big brake kits are more about repeated heavy use, like a track day, rather than stopping quicker (although they do that too ) And you may need to upgrade your suspension if you're going to make the most of them.

My AP sixes are wonderful and give great confidence. Could be scary without ABS

Richard.

Thumbs up

Thanks Lads. During normal driving I do brake progressively and in fact sometimes hardly brake at all. It's just.........Well it's just when you need that edge. Y'know I may do track if I feel the car will be up to it. Anyway I was drunk and my mates always nagging he wants my 4 pots after his brakes started smoking, after trying to follow me down one of the local backroads.

Wink

See if you can get hold of John Felstead as he runs AP 4 pots on 330mm on his sti5 type ra v ltd (and does track days on these also!).
6 pots imho are a bit over kill for road use, and you also have to take into consideration your tyres, these are as important as the brake setup you are running!
