**AP 6 Pot Disc Alternatives**
#1
I have an AP 6 Pot brake kit and the disc's need replacing. Is there any other companies apart from AP that make alternative discs (330 x 28 mm) as they cost a lot of money to replace from AP.
Thanks

Sorry Scooby-doo, but why would you fit (arguably) the best brake set-up you can buy for an Impreza, then fit cheap discs?
The discs are at the heart of the braking system and the APs are actually quite cheap compared to some. Buy them without the bells (cheaper) and if this is the first time the discs have been changed you can get away with re-using the bell bolts.
Richard.

The discs need replacing because they have hairline cracks in them and have been told to change them by a mechanic. Sorry I do not have any pictures.
The discs have done about 15k miles and thats just fast road use. I have not done any track days.
As for tyres I've got 215/35/18 Toyo T1-S.
The pads that I was using were Pagid RS4.2. They were really good pads but created a lot of brake dust and now I have replaced them with Ferodo DS2500. They produce a lot less dust and stop the car very well.

A mechanic I know spoke to AP and was told that new discs without the bells would cost £425. I am not after a cheap and nasty set of discs that will last me 2 months, but I am after a set that are of good quality and with a lower price tag that people have used and can recommend them.
If there is a company that does the same sort of quality discs at half the price of AP's then why should I go and pay the full price for a branded name like the AP's.

Thanks Scooby-dooby for your first hand knowledge, nice to know people are really using them.
Some other types of discs would not last that mileage on Pagid blues (RS4-2), so it may not be cost effective for you. Blues last longer than DS2500's but will wear the discs more. So another set of AP's will last longer with your 2500's.

Hispec now do Performance Friction discs, which are of equal quality to the AP. Not sure about getting them as direct replacement for your specific size, but should be possible.
www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk I think

P.F.discs have direct replacements (12 x 203.2pcd, D50) and are as good (possibly even better when used with their own PFC pads) but are £12+delivery more expensive (per pair) than AP's. Good to know there are alternatives though.

Thanks for the info guys. It seems like I will stay with the AP 8 groove discs. Like you said Hammy it's good to know what other alternatives I have.
Hammy, thanks for the e-mail regarding the discs. I will be in contact with you very soon.
Thanks

If you don't mind me asking,
Why do the discs need replacing (any pics)?
What useage (how many miles / track days)?
Road tyres / slicks?
What pads have you been using?
How many sets of pads you been through on them?
