Dot5 or Dot4?
Depends what you have got in there at the moment. If you have DOT4 you can upgrade to DOT5, but if you have DOT5 which is silicon based you must stick with it.
And no I don't know how to tell the difference.
I did a seach on Google and came up with these......

Hope this helps.

dot5 as a "better" fluid is a common misconception...........
the DOT no. refers to the ability to repel moisture and not, as many retailers would have you believe (or maybe don't know??), to the temperature range/performance of the fluid!!
most "race" fluids are only dot4 and yet are better than dot5's (in general)...........dot5 was developed for specific manufacturers ABS systems.
we normally supply either a v.high quality dot4 (£5/litre) for normal use, and race dot4 for track/competition type scenario's (£10+/500ml)
alyn - as performance
